Motivational Music Mondays

What does music do for you?

I’m not sure about you, but music has a HUGE affect on me.  It calms me when overwhelmed, energizes me when I need a lift, and soothes me when sad.  I think that God gifted us music to enrich our lives.  How many of you try to remember lyrics to song and you can only remember one or two lines?  Doesn’t that just BUG ya?!?!  I don’t know if it’s age or what, but I find myself doing that more and more. 🙂

Some days I just need to hear a specific song.  You-tube is my friend.  🙂

Music heals, music encourages, music uplifts, and music entertains.  So, I thought that it would be a cool idea to be able to encourage you and begin your week with a song that has affected me in a positive way.  I would love to hear your favorite songs and lyrics as well, so please share in the comments below! 🙂  I’ll be choosing a song that has a positive affect on me and including the lyrics (can’t TELL you how many times I’ve sung the wrong lyrics!! :)).

Music can bring back great memories….

When our older 6 kids were young, we had a Saturday morning ritual.  We’d get up and Greg would fix us all pancakes for breakfast.  That man can cook some MEAN pancakes I tell you! 🙂  We would get the kids all fed and while I would clean up the dishes, Greg and the kids would play “monster we run”.  Ask any of our kids and they’ll tell you that “monster we run” was a game where Greg would chase them around the house, “catch” one of them and start tickling them until they screamed.  After each one was caught they’d all fall on the ground put their legs up in the air and Greg would take turns swinging them in circles – all the while during this loud chaos of a morning, Steven Curtis Chapman’s song “Dive” would be blaring.  Our kids used to call it the “whoa whoa whoa” song because of the refrain.  To this day whenever I hear this song it brings me back to those sweet Saturday pancake mornings.

Pardon the poor quality of the pictures – cameras have changed a lot since 2002!  It’s amazing how a song can put you back in time immediately!  Love how a song can do that.  “Dive” has been one of Greg and my favorite Steven Curtis Chapman songs – our older kids are again rolling their eyes that we still listen to him! 🙂

Take a listen if you’ve never heard it before…

I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of Bible verses and lyrics to songs taped throughout our house as a reminder for me during my days.  So….enjoy the included freebie below of the two songs I’ve mentioned in this post.  Feel free to download and print them out as reminders for you throughout your day.
